CANADA – American multinational snack and food company Mondelēz has appointed Karla Schlieper as president of Mondelez Canada, effective Jan. 17.  

Schlieper will succeed Martin Parent, who is leaving the company after leading the Canadian business for the past three years. 

Prior to this, Ms. Schlieper who has been with Mondelez for more than eight years, served as president of the Southern Cone region (Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay).  

Earlier, she was president of biscuits for Latin America and also served as the region’s business unit director of biscuits and business unit director of beverages. 

Before joining Mondelez, she was marketing vice president of skin and home care at Flora and had earlier spent 18 years at Unilever in a variety of roles. 

“We are excited to welcome Karla to the North America region, and to our Canadian business, as we focus on driving our growth ambition and snacking leadership in Canada,” said Glen Walter, executive vice president and president, North America for Mondelez International.  

“Her passion for developing people, paired with strong end-to-end business acumen, positions her well to lead the Canada business in its next phase, and in achieving its growth targets. 

Walter also thanked Martin Parent for his leadership of the Canadian business over these past few years, including his role in advancing the company’s snacking ambition.  

Papa Jones gets new chief marketing and digital officer 

Meanwhile, American pizza restaurant chain Papa Jones has promoted Anne Fischer to chief marketing and digital officer. 

In her new role, she will continue to oversee customer experience while adding responsibilities for brand and advertising, media and field activation, menu strategy and product innovation. 

Ms. Fischer joined the restaurant chain in 2015 as senior director of digital marketing and was promoted to vice president of product management in 2017 and most recently served as senior vice president of customer experience. 

She will report to Max Wetzel, executive vice president, and chief commercial officer, and will join Papa John’s executive leadership team. 

“Digital innovation continues to be an enormous long-term growth opportunity for our brand,” Mr. Wetzel said. 

“Anne’s deep expertise in cutting-edge digital marketing, including leading our loyalty program, aggregator partnerships and our tech-enabled customer experience initiatives, brings a unique perspective and skill set to the CMDO role.”
