Monster Beverage reports 4.7% sales growth in Q4 2024 amid strong demand

USA – Monster Beverage Corporation recorded a 4.7% year-over-year increase in net sales, reaching US$1.81 billion for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2024.

This exceeded analysts’ estimates of a 3.73% rise to US$1.80 billion, as compiled by LSEG, driven by strong demand for its energy drinks and beverages.

Despite the revenue growth, the company reported an adjusted profit of 38 cents per share, falling short of market expectations of 40 cents per share. The shortfall was attributed to US$130.7 million in impairment charges related to Monster’s alcohol brands segment.

Its quarterly adjusted gross profit came in at 55.5%, compared to 54.5% a year ago.

“Innovation globally continues to play a key role in our strategy, and we maintain a robust innovation pipeline,” said Rodney C. Sacks, chair and co-chief executive officer.

“We continue to have market share leadership in a number of countries for our Monster Energy brand, and I am pleased to report that in the Republic of Ireland, Monster Energy has gained market share leadership in the last 13 weeks, as reported by Nielsen.”

The broader beverage industry has faced challenges as consumers prioritize essential purchases over premium products.

However, Monster Beverage’s promotional efforts and new product launches have helped the company secure more shelf space and attract customers, particularly during the holiday season.

The Monster Energy drinks segment, the company’s primary revenue driver, saw a 4.5% increase in net sales, reaching US$1.67 billion in Q4 2024, up from US$1.60 billion in the same period in 2023.

The strategic brands segment also posted strong growth, with net sales rising 11.1% to US$102.0 million, compared to US$91.8 million in Q4 2023.

However, the alcohol brands segment experienced a slight decline of 0.8%, with net sales falling to US$34.9 million from US$35.2 million in the previous year’s fourth quarter.

International markets played a crucial role in Monster Beverage’s performance, with net sales to customers outside the United States rising 11.7% to US$711.5 million, representing 39.3% of total net sales—an increase from 36.8% in Q4 2023.

For the full year 2024, Monster Beverage reported a 4.9% increase in net sales to US$7.49 billion, compared to US$7.14 billion in 2023.

Adjusted gross profit as a percentage of net sales improved to 54.2%, up from 53.3% in the previous year, supported by global pricing actions.
