INDIA – Packaging solutions provider Multivac is planning to invest €6.8 million (US$7.7m) in a new manufacturing site in Ghiloth, India, in a move to expand its production capacity.

The new complex will be built in Rajasthan, 120km from Delhi, and will cover around 10,000 square meters.

Half of the site has been earmarked for production which will mainly entail the assembly of thermoforming packaging machines and tray sealers, as well as the manufacture of dies and format sets.

There are also plans to establish a separate hall area for stocking spare parts and consumable materials.

Guido Spix, joint group president of Multivac, commented: “We are building up not only local production capacity, but also developing this site as a hub for the South Asia region”.

The aim is to provide the “optimum service to customers through regional proximity and shorter delivery times”.

The site which is expected to be ready by December 2022 follows a €20 million investment by the packaging company to develop a new multi-purpose building in Tsukuba, Japan.

Areas of expansion will include the company’s integrated systems, as well as products from the Fritsch (a manufacturer of equipment for both large bakeries and smaller producers of bakery products) and Tvi (a meat portioning specialist) business units.

The new building which is set to open in Summer 2022 will also include a training center for customers and staff, as well as showrooms for machines.

MULTIVAC extends tray sealer product range

Earlier, MULTIVAC unveiled three new traysealers that are specifically designed for packaging a wide range of food products or ready meals in family packs and catering trays.

According to a statement from the company, the new models have widths that are especially suited to packaging products such as ready meals in large trays while offering optimum output and digital solutions.

The wide-format TX 815, TX 825 and TX 835 traysealers enable trays with a width of 270 mm to be run in a two-track format, the company said.

Alternatively, they can enable trays with a width of up to 560 mm in a one-track format, which offers a high output of large trays with “wide set leading”.

Like all traysealers from MULITVAC’s TX range, the new machine models are equipped with Multi Sensor Control and Flow Manager, which the company says enhances the machines’ high output, reliability, and optimum pack quality with an even product flow.

Additionally, all models are prepared in advance for MULTIVAC’s digital solutions, with MULTIVAC Smart Services already available to customers.
