MycoTechnology’s ClearHT natural flavor solution granted GRAS status by FEMA

This milestone aligns with the company’s mission to promote healthier food and beverages.

USA—MycoTechnology, an innovator and provider of food ingredients derived from fungi, has received Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) status for its new natural flavor from the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA).

According to the company ClearHT, a unique species of fungi discovered in the honey truffle will be used as a flavor with modifying properties (FMP) across a range of F&B applications.

It works well with flavors like citrus and caramel, and offers new ways to modulate sweetness, helping to address continued consumer demand for better-tasting, healthier products.

Sue Potter, Ph.D., VP, Global Regulatory Affairs at MycoTechnology, said, “Achieving FEMA GRAS status affirms the safety of ClearHT natural flavor and opens new opportunities in many regions. This is a significant milestone in our efforts to expand the availability of our ingredient solutions to global markets.”

Jordi Ferre, the CEO of MycoTechnology, expressed pride in the company’s latest innovation, ClearHT, a natural flavor that represents a transformative addition to their ingredient solutions.

He highlighted the team’s notable achievements in scaling up production, ensuring safety, and advancing application development, all of which have prepared the product for its commercial launch.
