Nactarome acquires Spanish producer of flavors solutions Calaf Nuances

ITALY – Nactarome, a Europe-based group of ingredient companies, has marked its fourth acquisition this year, by snapping up a Spanish-based producer of flavors solutions with broad application expertise across F&B categories, Calaf Nuances.

Nactarome specializes in the production of natural flavors, colors, and functional ingredients for the food & beverage industry.

Meanwhile, Calaf Nuances has been supplying the food, beverage, and ingredients industries since 1998. Its flavors are based on an aroma nucleus that is obtained at a molecular level using Calaf Nuances’ technology.

The Spanish flavor solutions provider is said to have a large group of loyal customers based internationally across Spain, Europe, and Mexico. It has in-house technologies, including biotransformation, Maillard reactions, distillation, concentration, and encapsulation.

Nactarome indicated that Calaf Nuances will provide “an interesting addition to its range of sweet and savory flavors and blends for F&B.”

Luigi Del Monaco, CEO at Nactarome, comments: “With this acquisition, we have expanded our presence in the Spanish and Latin America markets and gained access to new competencies and capabilities that will enable us to serve our customers even better.”

“This move aligns with our long-term strategic plan to strengthen our position and create sustainable value for our stakeholders. Our employees have worked tirelessly to make this acquisition a reality and we warmly welcome the new colleagues of Calef Nuances.”

In the last five years, Nactarome has expanded its operations, which now comprises 13 production sites and over 550 employees.

On 9th May, Nactarome completed its third acquisition, purchasing Royal Buisman, a Dutch producer of natural, clean-label caramel ingredients.

The company said the acquisition, which was solely advised by Rothschild&Co, would help to create a strategic presence in the Netherlands.

Royal Buisman has a network of blue-chip customers across Benelux, Europe, Southeast Asia, and North America, with a strong portfolio of dry powder and liquid caramel products that offer flavoring, coloring, and texture solutions.

Robert Hoopman, CEO of Royal Buisman, commented: “Our management team sees huge potential in joining the Nactarome group to create a leading natural ingredients company. The combined business offers a great opportunity to pursue attractive synergies by creating innovative flavor and color solutions to the benefit of customers across international food markets.”

Earlier this year, Thai-China Flavours and Fragrances Industry formed a new strategic partnership agreement with Nactarome, providing a comprehensive portfolio of all-in-one natural flavorings, extracts, and functional ingredients to the global F&B industry.
