KENYA – Naivas, the largest supermarket chain in Kenya, has opened its 106th store in Mtwapa, Mombasa. The new outlet is designed to provide a quick and convenient shopping experience for both residents and visitors in the area.
Located at Petrocity Mtwapa, the Naivas Express store spans 9,000 square feet and operates 24 hours a day. It offers a wide range of essential items, including fresh produce, groceries, household goods, and personal care products.
The store aims to meet the growing demand for convenient shopping in the bustling Mtwapa region. Andreas Von Paleske, Naivas Chief of Strategy, stated that the expansion into Mtwapa had long been requested by residents.
“We are excited to finally bring the Naivas Express experience to the community. This store reflects our commitment to providing convenient shopping options for our customers, wherever they are,” said Von Paleske.
“We look forward to serving the Mtwapa community and contributing to the vibrancy of this growing area.”
In recent months, Naivas has been aggressively expanding, taking over prime spaces vacated by rivals and entering new strategic locations.
The first store opened this year is on Mwanzi Road in Westlands, Nairobi, marking the chain’s 102nd outlet. In March, the supermarket chain continued its rapid growth with another store at Shell Survey, North View along Thika Road.
In April, Naivas launched its 104th branch at T Square Mall in Buruburu, signaling a temporary slowdown in its expansion.
Last month, the retailer opened its 105th store—and 12th in the coastal region—in Nyali. Naivas plans to open more branches in the region, with upcoming locations in Tilisi and Mavoko.
In February, Naivas Senior Commercial Manager Denis Makori announced plans to open five new outlets by the end of the year.
“Our approach is scientific. We conduct feasibility studies before launching in any new location. Our expansion is based on the results of those studies and the viability of each site,” Makori said.
