UK – Nestlé’s UK confectionery division has moved to extend its market-leading KiKat range with an addition of two new flavours, Honeycomb, and Chocolate Hazelnut spread.

The KitKat two-finger honeycomb bar and chocolate hazelnut spread bar will replace the brand’s existing cookies and cream, and lemon drizzle varieties.

“We’ve experienced huge demand for our two-finger KitKats this year and we know that fans love to try new flavours from the brand. We think our honeycomb and chocolate hazelnut spread varieties really hit the spot, and we’re sure they’ll become popular new additions to the range,” said Amy Bennett-Inge, assistant brand manager for KitKat.

Nestlé confirmed that the two new varieties are being produced at its factory in York, which is also home to its other well established brands including Aero, Yorkie, Milkybar and Polo.

Last year, KitKat launched new posh, handmade bars in 1,500 different flavour combinations including cherry bakewell and gin and tonic.

And in January, KitKat launched a new GOLD four-finger bar with white chocolate and caramel. While in 2017, Nestle changed KitKat’s recipe to cut its sugar content.

According to Nestlé, sales of two-finger KitKats in the UK have grown by more than 20% so far this year.

KitKat honeycomb will be available in multipacks at Sainsbury’s from the end of this month and in Asda from 9th November, as well as Iceland and B&M.

Meanwhile, KitKat chocolate hazelnut spread will be available in multipacks of nine bars in Asda from 9th November with more retailers to follow.

Meanwhile, the company’s KitKat brand also cut ties with Fairtrade for the sourcing of its cocoa and sugar, instead opting for farms under its own cocoa sustainability programme, Cocoa Plan.

Last month, KitKat partnered with Nestle to create unique recipes and a range of high-quality bakery products, made with ingredients from Nestlé.

The first product launched will be a muffin with the KitKat ingredients taste, filled with milk chocolate and covered with KitKat topping.
