SWITZERLAND – Nestlé has introduced an innovative Immersive Factory Experience that uses virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) technology to allow people to visit its factories remotely.

The initiative aims to reduce the carbon footprint associated with physical site visits while offering a transparent view of the company’s manufacturing processes.

The immersive experience, accessible through VR headsets, enables visitors to explore how Nestlé products are made, observe safety and quality protocols, and gain insight into the technological innovations driving the creation of its well-known brands.

By opening its factory doors virtually, Nestlé seeks to strengthen trust among its stakeholders, including customers, partners, and consumers.

The platform is designed to offer a personalised experience, allowing visitors to focus on products relevant to their own countries.

Additionally, generative AI and voice synthesis technology have been incorporated into the system, which currently supports English, Spanish, and Portuguese, with plans to add more languages soon.

The Immersive Factory Experience was initially tested earlier this year at Nestlé’s nutrition factory in Jalisco, Mexico, and has since been rolled out across several markets in Latin America.

Plans are underway to expand the virtual tours to more regions, with Nestlé aiming to include its global Research & Development centres by 2025.

Nestlé awarded for workplace culture

In addition to its technological advancements, Nestlé has also been recognised for its workplace culture.

The company earned the prestigious Great Place to Work certification for 2024 in both the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, Nestlé has been named one of the Best Workplaces for Women in the GCC for 2024, reinforcing its commitment to creating an empowering and inclusive work environment.

The company continues to support its employees with various initiatives, including a Global Parental Support Policy, flexible work arrangements, and a family care program.

Nestlé was also honoured with the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority’s Parent-Friendly Label earlier this year for its efforts to foster a supportive workplace for parents.
