NIGERIA – The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Limited, franchise bottler of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, has announced the appointment of Ekuma Eze as the Public Affairs and Communications Director effective from this month.

In a statement issued by the company and signed by George Polymenakos, the group’s managing director, Eze is expected to consolidate the company’s strategic business in developing talents in the Public Affairs and Communications team.

Eze will also work towards building a good reputation of the company amongst members of the public, stakeholder groups as well as effectively manage every aspect of NBC’s corporate relations.

Eze joined the beverage company in February 2010 as the Regional Manager, Public Affairs and Communications.

During his tenure he was responsible for supporting NBC’s objectives through strong relationships and effective communications with all stakeholders as well as coordinating timely execution of its sustainable CSR programs, among other tasks.

Prior to this appointment, Eze served as the Country Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility working to ensure development of sustainable strategies in line with NBC’S commitment to community relations.

While serving under this position he was also tasked with facilitating implementation of strategies in supporting the company’s strategic business priorities in trajectory with NC’S goals.

Eze has also worked in the banking industry charges with the responsibility of managing media relations, internal communications, brand management, Corporate Social Responsibility and External Relations.

Eze has also served as the group Head, media and external relations at Finbank Plc, brand management officer at First Bank of Nigeria, corporate affairs executive at MBC International Bank Limited and also as a political reporter at the Daily Independent Newspaper Ltd.

Eze is a graduate of English Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he bagged the prestigious University of Port Harcourt Best Graduating Student Award in 1997.

He also obtained his Masters’ degree in English at the University of Lagos and has attended series of executive training in journalism, corporate communications and stakeholder management, both locally and internationally, reports ThisDay.

Eze replaces Mrs. Shade Morgan who recently left the services of NBC to join Nigerian Breweries Plc.
