NIGERIA- Nigerian Breweries has appointed Emmanuel Oriakhi as new Marketing Director based at the Heineken headquarters in Amsterdam, reported Beverage Industry news.
He succeeds Franco Maria Maggi who has been transferred on secondment to Amsterdam to take up a higher position.
Until Mr. Maggi’s transfer to Amsterdam, he has been the Marketing Director and Executive Director at Nigerian Breweries Plc since September 1, 2015.
His last role before his present job was Heineken Business Development Manager – Africa, Middle East, Russia & Belarus.
According to the company, Oriakhi has been on expatriation in Amsterdam in the last four years and is highly experienced in the field of brand building communication development, insight generation, innovation and brand experience.
He has 11 years of experience as a marketing specialist in Africa & Middle East, having contributed to driving volume, profit and equity growth for the Heineken brand.
After few months as a banking officer at GTBank, he joined Nigerian Breweries as Senior Brand Manager for Heineken and Gulder and has since worked in every strategic marketing unit at NB Plc and other companies within the Heineken global family, helping to drive brand equity and sales.
At Nigerian Breweries, he worked as Marketing Manager in charge of Marketing Strategy and Planning, head of the Consumer and Market Intelligence, Media & Digital unit where he led the company’s initiatives in Consumer, Shopper and Market Intelligence and marketing research analysis.
In 2014, he was moved to the global Headquarters of Heineken in Amsterdam as Heineken Regional Marketing Manager – Global Marketing, Region Africa & Middle East.
He has worked across key markets including Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Ivory Coast and Gulf operations (Dubai, Bahrain and Qatar).
Management restructuring
The company announced major restructuring including resignations of human resource director, sales director from the board, one of them joining the Heineken organisation.
Grace Omo-Lamai and Uche Unigwe were then appointed as part of the management team of the company in the positions of human resource director and sales director, respectively.
The restructuring also involved the appointment of Jordi Borrut Bel as the company’s managing director/chief executive officer effective January 22, 2018.
