NIGERIA – The Lager Beer and Stout maker, Nigerian Breweries has appointed Steven Lucien Marie Siemer to its Board as a Non-Executive Director effective 25th October, 2018, Beverage Industry News report.

Prior to his appointment, Siemer was the Regional Finance Director for Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe at Heineken N.V.

He joined the Heineken group in 1990 as Marketing Controller, Heineken Netherlands and has thereafter held senior management and directorate positions within the finance, control, accounting and marketing functions in Heineken operating companies in Spain, Austria, Ireland and the Netherlands.

He succeeds Obadiah O. Mailafia who resigned from the Board on 7th October, 2018 after four years at the helm to pursue other personal interests.

Mailafia’s departure follows the resignation of Corporate Affairs Director Kufre Ekanem, who left the company in October to start a career at a culture, marketing and public relations consultancy firm, Philosoville Limited.

The company last month announced the appointment of Emmanuel Oriakhi as new Marketing Director based at the Heineken headquarters in Amsterdam.

It carried out an overhaul of its Board with several resignations and new appointments.

Resignations from the board included those of Mark Rutten, the company’s Finance Director; Hendrik A. Wymenga, Supply Chain Director effective date 27 July 2018; and Franco Maria Maggi who stepped down from the board effective 31 August 2018.

Robert Kleinjan was appointed to the Board as the company’s new Finance Director effective the 28th of July, 2018 while Martin Kochl was appointed as Chain Director effective the 28th of July, 2018.

The indigenous brewer made major restructuring of its management and the appointment of Jordi Borrut as the company’s managing director in December last year.
