NIGERIA – Nigerian Breweries Plc (NBP) has launched a new beer into the local market, Tiger Beer brand from Singapore in an event tagged ‘uncage’, as reported by the Vanguard.

The launch of the Tiger Lager into the Nigerian market scales up competition by major brands to increase beer market share.

The new brand, an international premium beer in the Asian market adds to Heineken’s own brand Lager beer as the company express undeterred determination to get a larger portion of estimated US$2.7 billion beer market, according to Euromonitor.

NBP is gearing up for another round of beer war against the world’s largest brewer, AB InBev’s International Breweries Plc, who recently launched Budweiser beer into the market.

International Breweries Plc announced in December a major expansion plan across its product portfolio by introducing Budweiser among others in the premium category in 2018.

“Tiger Beer identifies with the bold Nigerian whose passion brings him a sense of purpose.

It is for the man of courage, and will be anchored around creativity, and inspiring real stories of people living their potential, and making their mark,” said Tokunbo Adodo, Portfolio Manager, International Premium, Nigerian Breweries Plc.

They are embarking on an 86-year history of Tiger beer, introduced in Singapore back in 1932.

An article by BrandSpur Nigeria indicates the brand is considered one of the world’s fastest-growing premium beer brands, growing by 24% (2016) year-on-year, and is currently marketed in over 60 countries, including UK, US, Singapore, China, Vietnam, Australia, and now in Nigeria.

Tiger beer is made with only the finest, quality ingredients to achieve a refreshing, full-bodied taste; has won over 40 international awards including Gold at the prestigious world beer cup, the gold medal at the Commonwealth Bottled Beer Competition, and the BIIA’s World’s Best Lager Beer award, narrates NBP.
