UK – Noble Foods, a leading supplier of fresh food brands, has announced the appointment of Barney Kay as their new Agriculture Director.
Kay will lead the agricultural division within Noble Foods’ Consumer Foods business, overseeing the production and packaging of over 30 million eggs weekly.
The decision, outlined in a press release by the British Free Range Egg Producers Association, positions Kay to oversee a network of over 200 producers and a team of Regional Performance Managers.
Kay brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having most recently served as Agriculture Strategy and Supply Chain Director at Amber Real Estates.
His tenure there was marked by significant contributions to advancing higher welfare chicken production, underscoring his dedication to ethical farming practices and animal welfare.
Previously, Kay held the position of Managing Director of Agriculture at Pilgrim’s UK, where he managed one of the country’s largest pig farming operations.
His leadership was instrumental in achieving strong operational and financial results for the business.
His career spans beyond production, with notable roles at major UK retailers including Sainsbury’s and Tesco, where he served as Head of Agriculture.
In these capacities, Kay forged robust relationships with farmers and suppliers, fostering trust and collaboration throughout the agricultural supply chain.
Commenting on his new appointment, Kay expressed enthusiasm for joining Noble Foods and emphasized his background as a farmer, which he believes will bring a practical understanding of agricultural dynamics to his new role.
He highlighted Noble Foods’ ongoing efforts to support producers and enhance sustainability initiatives as pivotal to the company’s growth strategy.
