NORWAY – Salmon Group, a prominent network of small and medium-sized aquaculture companies in Norway, is currently expanding its membership with the addition of three new shareholders: Ilsvåg Holding, Engesund Fiskeoppdrett, and Frøfisk AS.
This inclusion raises the total number of businesses in the network to 40.
Salmon Group focuses on ensuring optimal operating and framework conditions for its member companies.
The network is actively working on initiatives that strengthen internal collaboration and enhance its external influence.
The network holds a significant position in Norwegian aquaculture, with its members producing 200,000 tons of salmon and trout, along with over 60 million smolt annually.
Collectively, these companies generated more than NOK 15.8 billion (US$1.48 million) in revenue in 2023.
The first of the new shareholders, Ilsvåg Holding, has been producing smolt since 1964.
The company brings extensive expertise and a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability to the group.
“As a smaller entity, we are joining the network to benefit from cost efficiencies and economies of scale. We are looking forward to a productive collaboration,” says Ilsvåg CEO Ove Kaldheim.
Engesund Fiskeoppdrett, a family-run company based in the Fitjar Islands, is also joining the network this month.
Known for its strong focus on communication, quality, and sustainability, Engesund employs 17 people across multiple municipalities and holds several aquaculture licenses.
“We are excited to be part of a large purchasing organization with active management that values sustainability. It is also a unique platform for small and medium-sized breeders to connect,” says CEO Svein Eivind Gilje.
The third new member, Frøfisk AS, has been in the smolt production industry since 1986 and is based in Vindafjord.
Frøfisk CEO Trond Skogen highlights the benefits of joining the network, stating, “We anticipate that being part of Salmon Group will help us reduce our purchasing costs and provide us with valuable insights and enjoyable experiences.”
