Oreo launches Double Chocolate Cakesters, expanding its product line

USA – Oreo, a Mondelēz International brand that manufactures cookies, has unveiled the new Oreo Double Chocolate Cakesters and relaunched the Oreo Golden Birthday Cake, which was previously a permanent offering until 2013, thus strengthening its snack options.

The additions include the Oreo Double Chocolate Cakesters, a permanent offering, and the Oreo Golden Birthday Cake, a limited-time flavour celebrating the iconic cookie’s birthday.

As the company stated, the Oreo Double Chocolate Cakesters will feature a rich chocolate-flavoured crème filling nestled between two soft chocolate snack cakes.

The product aims to attract chocolate lovers and will hit store shelves on 24th February 2025. Positioned as a permanent addition, the Cakesters reflect Mondelēz’s commitment to expanding its product range to meet evolving consumer preferences.

On the other hand, the Oreo Golden Birthday Cake will be available for a limited time starting March 3 2025. This flavour includes birthday cake-flavoured crème with rainbow sprinkles sandwiched between Oreo Golden cookies.

The revival of this flavour aligns with the brand’s strategy to leverage nostalgia while appealing to younger consumers.

Blue Diamond, Mike’s Hot Honey

Blue Diamond Growers, an almond processing cooperative,  partnered with Mike’s Hot Honey to introduce Hot Honey Almonds, aiming to capitalise on consumer demand for bold and innovative flavours in the snacking sector.

This collaboration marks a new step for Blue Diamond, which seeks to diversify its offerings and appeal to adventurous consumers.

According to both companies, Hot Honey Almonds blends the distinct sweetness of honey with a spicy chilli kick, creating a unique flavour profile that caters to the growing trend of sweet and spicy snacks.

Maya Erwin, Vice President of Marketing and Innovation at Blue Diamond, commented: “Consumers crave big, exciting flavours, and these almonds deliver a mouthwatering combination of crunch, sweetness and heat.”

Hot Honey Almonds’ versatility as an on-the-go snack, salad topping, or addition to charcuterie boards further enhances their market appeal.

Mike Kurtz, founder of Mike’s Hot Honey, added: “Sweet heat plus crunch is always a winning combination in my book, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how the product turned out”.

The introduction of this product aligns with broader industry trends, which show that consumers are increasingly looking for snacks that offer convenience without sacrificing flavour.
