AUSTRALIA – Schur Flexibles Group, one of the leading providers of flexible packaging solutions in Austria and Europe has appointed Thorsten Kühn as its new Chief Executive Officer.

The appointment came after serving as the vice-president of the company’s European PET business and as the regional head of the company’s Asia division while at the company.

Having served as the CEO of Switzerland-based aluminium foil manufacturer Bilcare Research AG from 2011, Kuhn has over 20 years of experience in the packaging industry.

He also worked at Klöckner Pentaplast, as a developer of plastic films for the food, consumer goods and pharmaceutical industries.

According to Thomas Unger, chairman of Schur Flexibles’ Advisory Board said that Thorsten Kühn commands expertise that meshes ideally with the company’s growth strategy.

Kuhn has helped create value-oriented growth in the companies he had worked in, giving priority to customer benefits, extensive international know-how, business model expansion and efficiency-geared production.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity of working in such an entrepreneurial environment.

Schur Flexibles is fast, highly innovative, covers the entire value chain and provides customers with one-stop shopping.”

The company has written an impressive growth story since 2012 which will continue forward.

“Recently, Schur Flexibles reinforced its position in the premium packaging solutions business for the confectionery and tea market through three acquisitions and will remain open for further acquisitions in the future,” said Kuhn.

He succeeds Jakob Mosser who received appointment as chief executive at Chicago-based packaging company Coveris Holdings SA in January this year.

His appointment came after the group proposed to acquire French flexible packaging producer UNI Packaging in order to strengthen its market position in Europe in cheese, dairy, as well as fresh food and convenience markets.
