UGANDA – Pearl Dairy Farms Limited, the producers of Lato Milk products have introduced a new product, Lato Creamer to its range of offerings on the Ugandan market.

The launch strengthens its growth strategy anchored on diversification and forms part of the company’s continuous efforts to be innovative as it looks to spread its footprint across other markets in Africa.

Lato Creamer coming in a 500ml pouch with a 90-day shelf life, is a mix of milk and sugar fortified with soy, reports 256 Business News.

According to the company, its aimed to cater to all consumers who are looking for a unique, convenient and quality experience, keeping in mind the tastes and needs of Ugandan consumers.

“Not only is the Lato Milk creamer affordable, it is also a nutritious ready to consume product that we are proud to introduce to the Ugandan market. All the consumer has to do is add tea-leaves and their cup of tea will be ready.”

Bijoy Varghese, the General Manager at Pearl Dairy, says the country is majorly a tea drinking nation and with a combination of milk and sugar, two of the three ingredients in milk tea, the creamer will come in handy for most consumers.

“Our customers will not go through the hassle of mixing ingredients and they are essentially getting two products for a price of one,” Bijoy said.

Its biggest attraction is the price point of UGX 1000 (US$0.27), making it to rapidly gain traction with the price sensitive consumers.

“Not only is the Lato Milk creamer affordable, it is also a nutritious ready to consume product that we are proud to introduce to the Ugandan market. All the consumer has to do is add tea-leaves and their cup of tea will be ready,” Varghese said.

With the launch, Pearl Dairy is also contributing to the fight against malnutrition in the country by producing affordable and a wide array of dairy products.

The company recently launched its new yoghurts varieties, fruity mixed berries and peach & caramel.

These are in addition to the five flavours which were launched in October 2020.

With the new offerings, the Lato brand owner is expanding its processing capacity thus availing jobs opportunities to the locals.

Offering a glimpse of offer after laying off 1,500 workers following the company halting exports to Kenya, forcing it to reduce production capacity by 75%.
