FRANCE – Pernod Ricard, a global leader in wine and spirits, has been recognized with a gold Ecovadis for its commitment to improving and accelerating its sustainability management.
The beverage giant is now among the top 5 percent of the 100,000 companies rated by Ecovadis for their sustainability efforts.
EcoVadis helps companies manage ESG risk and compliance, meet corporate sustainability goals, and drive impact at scale by guiding sustainability performance improvement at both the company and value chain levels.
Its methodology is based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000.
Pernod Ricard noted: “A gold rating from EcoVadis demonstrates our strong commitment, action plans, and reporting practices across our operations linked to four areas: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.”
The Absolut maker has been at the forefront of ensuring sustainable operations.
The company has since joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), a coalition of global businesses working together to limit the climate crisis, restore nature, and tackle inequality, with a vision to build a world where nine billion people are living well and within the boundaries of the planet, by 2050.
Built upon four key pillars – Nurturing Terroir, Valuing People, Circular Making, and Responsible Hosting, Pernod Ricard’s 2030 Sustainability & Responsibility roadmap “Good Times from a Good Place” addresses all aspects of the business and directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As part of its membership, Pernod Ricard has also joined the One Planet Business for Biodiversity (OP2B) – an international, cross-sectoral and action-oriented business coalition on biodiversity with a specific focus on regenerative agriculture.
Through the partnership, Pernod Ricard will drive transformational system change and catalyze action to protect and restore cultivated and natural biodiversity within agricultural value chains.
Concurrently, the Ballantines maker has been ranked as the leading European, and number four in the world, consumer goods company in terms of bringing skills dedicated to data and artificial intelligence (AI) in-house, according to the 2024 Data & AI Human Capital Report produced by AlixPartners and Darwin X.
The study, which covers the 65 biggest global companies in the sector, assesses the proportion of the internal workforce dedicated to data and artificial intelligence activities, using data gathering and processing technology developed by Darwin X.
