BOTSWANA – Bokomo Foods, a breakfast cereals company and division of Pioneer Foods (Pty) Ltd has unveiled an extensive mill upgrade which it had been undertaking since the first quarter of 2018, reported Botswana Daily News.

According to the company’s CEO Mr Werner De Beer, the upgrade was a first of its kind in the milling category and an indication of the company’s commitment towards improving the value chain of all Bokomo products.

The company boasts of quality products as a result of strict adherence to quality control measures as well as to government requirements.

The investment comes after the food manufacturer and distributor received an international award, he International Standard Organisation ISO 9001:2015 certification from Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS).

It recognized the company’s excellence in management systems and effectiveness in applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Mr Jaco Venter, operations manager said the upgrade would enhance improved performance and production to meet demand for its products in the local market by contributing to supply and demand chains.

“The mill upgrade will have a significantly positive impact on the manner in which we carry out our operations here at Bokomo,” he said.

According to him, the upgrade enabled Bokomo to continue providing quality products at increased quantities and placed the company in a better position to meet demand.

In addition, it ensures improved productivity, cut on costs of production and eventually realise price savings for the consumer.

Apart from pure sugar brands, Bokomo Botswana manufacturers and distributes edibles such as star maize meal, Bokomo special maize meal, samp and maize rice among others.

Its operations include producing, handling and distributing consumable goods through milling and packaging of wheat and maize products, the packaging and repackaging of refined sugar.
