UK – Pladis, the global snacking company known for its iconic brands, is expanding its Carr’s Melts range with a new flavour: Caramelised Red Onion.

This addition aims to cater to the growing demand for caramelised onion-flavoured snacks, particularly among younger family shoppers.

The Carr’s Melts crackers are baked with a chutney-inspired flavour, infused with the sweet and smoky taste of caramelised red onion. Pladis identified this flavour as increasingly popular, especially among younger, affluent family shoppers who seek indulgent yet quality snacks.

Asl Askman, Marketing Director at pladis UK&I, highlighted the consumer demand for high-quality savoury snacks, especially with more people spending time at home.

According to Pladis, the Carr’s Melts range has quickly become a favorite choice for shoppers looking to elevate their snacking experience, particularly in the evenings.

The Caramelised Red Onion Flavour Melts joins the existing Carr’s Melts range, which includes Original and Cheese flavors.

Pladis has a history of innovation, introducing new products to meet evolving consumer preferences. Recent innovations include ‘Cheesy Specials’ Mini Cheddars, flavored Jacob’s crackers, popping candy cake bars under the BN brand, raspberry-flavored Jaffa Cakes, and white chocolate digestive biscuits.

The new Carr’s Caramelised Red Onion Flavour Melts will be available in Waitrose stores nationwide in 150g boxes, with a recommended retail price of £1.99, starting from the beginning of April. The product will later roll out across multiple retail, convenience, and wholesale channels.

This launch follows Pladis’s completion of the integration of Godiva Chocolatier into its brand portfolio, valued at US$3.8 billion.

As part of the integration, Steve Lesnard has been appointed as the new president of Godiva, effective May 1.

In his new role, Lesnard will collaborate with Pladis to elevate Godiva and expand its presence, particularly in the United States and China markets, with plans to accelerate sales by 2026.
