USA- Kellanova-owned Pringles has unveiled a new snack ‘Pringles Mingles’ in tubeless packaging, departing from its traditional tube packaging in favor of a bagged snack.
The new snack will be available in three flavors: cheddar and sour cream, sharp white cheddar & ranch, and drill pickle ranch.
Pringles’ US marketing director said, “Our iconic Pringles can be part of our identity – and it’s not going anywhere – but we’re always looking for new ways to innovate and satisfy our fans’ latest cravings.”
“This puffy, airy snack not only gives fans a new way to experience Pringles, but its easy-to-share packaging creates a new way to enjoy their favorite snack with friends and family, whether munching at home for movie night, at a party, or on the go.”
The new product is expected to reach retail outlets in the second half of 2024. The company has yet to announce the exact date of availability in retail outlets.
The new product range comes a few months after Pringles replaced the metal bottom of its products with a paper fiber alternative.
The company viewed this packaging change as an innovative way of incorporating ‘circularity by design.’ This refers to integrating sustainability in packaging and processing, limiting wastage.
The new packaging is accepted in various curbside recycling plants in Europe.
Kellanova’s senior director of salty snacks, Tracy Murphy, said, “As part of our Better Days Promise, we have been working hard to reduce our environmental footprint. The recyclable Pringles tube is another crucial step in our sustainable packaging journey.
“Based on the trial of the paper tube in 2020, we already know that consumers love the new look, and we’re very excited that they’ll be able to get their hands on it.”
The product is the latest in various innovations from Pringles and Kellanova.
Pringles launched five new spicy flavors for its Hot offering in February to cater to the needs of its customer base, which prefers spicy snacks.
Kellog’s brand manager Beth Johnson said, “We know our shoppers love spicy flavors, as we saw with our Sizzl’N range. Pringles Hot is the next evolution, allowing retailers to capitalize on the demand for more spicy offerings.”
The company seeks to be a leading innovator in the snacks industry.
