ISRAELI – ProFuse Technology, an Israeli startup recognized for its media supplements that enhance muscle tissue formation in cultivated meat, has unveiled “PROFUSE-B8” bovine myoblasts, marking a push into optimized cell lines for muscle growth.

These myoblasts, or muscle progenitor cells, are spontaneously immortalized without genetic engineering, allowing them to divide indefinitely.

The cell line exhibits high efficiency in proliferation, differentiation, and maturation phases, along with performance stability, making it suitable for a muscle production system without the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

ProFuse Technology’s new cell line, PROFUSE-B8, is positioned as an ideal building block for cultivating bovine muscle products.

The company has also revealed plans to license the technology to other cultivated meat firms interested in developing non-GMO bovine muscle.

Additionally, ProFuse Technology is working on developing similar cell lines for porcine, ovine, avian, and fish applications.

When combined with the company’s PROFUSE-S1 media supplement, cultivated meat companies can achieve higher yields, shorter production cycles, and reduced production costs.

The media supplement accelerates skeletal muscle tissue formation by optimizing the proliferation, differentiation, and maturation phases.

By leveraging the non-GMO cell line and media supplement, ProFuse aims to provide unparalleled efficiency in cultivated meat production.

Despite the current focus of many cultivated meat startups on biomass production for combined products with plant-based meat, ProFuse Technology believes in the market potential for products optimizing tissue production.

While the cultivated meat industry faces funding challenges, ProFuse Technology plans to target other industries such as regenerative medicine, drug discovery, and academia to diversify its revenue streams.

Meanwhile, the company has secured equity funding of US$4.25 million and grants to support its operations.

As ProFuse Technology introduces non-GMO cell lines to the cultivated meat sector, it aims to address the need for efficient and stable solutions in muscle tissue production while exploring opportunities beyond the meat industry.
