Reliance expands Campa Cola’s presence with new bottling plant in India

INDIA – Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has expanded the reach of Campa’s beverage portfolio in Northeast India with the inauguration of a new bottling plant in Guwahati, Assam.

Developed in partnership with local partner Jericho, the facility underscores Assam’s growing contribution to industrial and economic development.

Spanning over 6 lakh sq. ft., it stands as one of the largest beverage manufacturing units in the region.

The plant features an initial production capacity of over 10 crore litres for carbonated soft drinks (CSD) and nearly 18 crore litres for packaged drinking water, ensuring a steady supply to meet increasing consumer demand.

Speaking at the inauguration, Assam’s Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the affordability and quality of Campa’s products.

“Common people can purchase Campa’s products at a very affordable price. That is one of the big advantages with Campa Cola. While they are giving at an affordable price, they are not compromising with the quality, which is at par with other global standards. I believe that this brand will grow from strength to strength and will have an opportunity to expand more,” he said.

Ketan Mody, Chief Operating Officer of RCPL, highlighted the significance of the plant’s launch.

“Our operations here will generate new employment opportunities, directly contributing to local economic growth. This expansion is a key step in our strategy of reviving India’s heritage brands while fostering sustainable development for the region,” he stated.

The Guwahati facility is equipped with cutting-edge manufacturing technology, featuring two advanced bottling lines – a 600 bottles per minute (BPM) carbonated soft drink line and a 583 BPM water production line.

These additions reinforce efficiency and innovation in beverage production. With an optimized SKU mix, the plant will offer a diverse range of beverages in multiple pack sizes to cater to varying consumer preferences.

With this expansion, RCPL reaffirms its commitment to delivering high-quality beverages to Indian consumers while strengthening its presence in Northeast India.

The launch follows RCPL’s recent international expansion of the Campa brand into the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in partnership with Agthia Group, a leading food and beverage company in the region.

Initially, the Campa portfolio in the UAE will include Campa Cola, Campa Lemon, Campa Orange, and Cola Zero.

Additionally, RCPL has entered the sports hydration segment with the launch of Spinner, a drink co-created with former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, and the rehydration beverage category with RasKik Gluco Energy.

Both products, priced at Rs 10 (US$0.12) per pack, aim to capture growing demand in India’s expanding beverage market.
