NORWAY – Norwegian aquaculture technology company Remora Robotics has named Eline Stokstad Fjell as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Fjell, an experienced growth investor at Verdane, a private equity firm specializing in mid-market tech investments, brings extensive expertise in supporting technology-focused companies.
Fjell expressed enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “Playing a part in making one of the world’s largest protein sources and a significant Norwegian export more sustainable is highly meaningful. The fish farming industry faces significant challenges, and Remora is actively addressing several of them.”
Svein Erik Gregersen, CEO of Remora Robotics, commented on the appointment, saying, “Eline is an ideal fit for our company. Her experience and vision align perfectly with our goals, especially as we focus on scaling up. Her addition to the team comes at a critical growth phase for Remora.“
Headquartered in Stavanger, Remora Robotics specializes in developing autonomous technology for the aquaculture sector.
Its primary innovation is a robotic net cleaner designed to operate within fish farming enclosures. This device cleans nets while simultaneously collecting data on aquatic environments.
In 2023, the company secured US$2.7 million in funding, led by Grieg Kapital and Momentum, two key players in the investment sector.
The funding will support the advancement of Remora’s autonomous cleaning technology and expand its sales operations.
Founded in 2015, Remora Robotics initially aimed to develop an underwater robot modeled after a robotic lawnmower.
The autonomous submarine robot is designed to improve efficiency in net cleaning for fish farms while monitoring the health of the aquatic ecosystem.
The company has also established partnerships with leading research organizations in Norway, including SINTEF, the Norwegian Research Council, NTNU, and Innovation Norway, to further refine its technology.
