Saudi Arabia launches world’s first date-based soft drink, Milaf Cola

SAUDI ARABIA – Saudi Arabia has introduced Milaf Cola, the world’s first soft drink made from dates, as an innovative alternative to traditional sodas.

Developed by Thurath Al-Madina, a subsidiary of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the beverage was unveiled at the Riyadh Date Festival.

Milaf Cola replaces conventional sweeteners like corn syrup and cane sugar with premium dates, a staple in the Middle East celebrated for their nutritional benefits.

Dates are rich in fiber, antioxidants, and essential minerals such as magnesium and potassium.

The cola is marketed as a healthier option for soda drinkers, boasting no added sugar while delivering the refreshing flavor of a classic cola.

“The cola is an innovative product that brings together the health benefits of dates with the refreshing taste of a classic cola. It’s a healthier option for soda drinkers,” said Al-Qahta, a representative of Thurath Al-Madina.

The launch aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which emphasizes economic diversification and sustainability

Milaf Cola is made from locally sourced dates, ensuring adherence to international food safety standards while promoting environmental sustainability.

Thurath Al-Madina plans to expand the Milaf Cola line and introduce it to regional and global markets, aiming to elevate the perception of dates from a traditional snack to a versatile, trendy ingredient.

“Milaf Cola is just the beginning. We are working on a variety of products that will revolutionize how dates are consumed globally,” a company spokesperson announced.
