SWEDEN – Leading flexible packaging producer, Schur Flexibles has acquired Swedish packaging specialist, Scandiflex Pac to further strengthen its packaging capabilities in the Nordic region.

The transaction, whose details were not disclosed brings together Scandiflex Pac’s expertise in innovation, sustainability and quality and Schur Flexibles’ leadership in packaging solutions in Austria and Europe.

The acquisition further strengthens the company’s position in flexo-printing and bolster its capabilities in the Nordic region, covering the complete converting and digital printing value chain.

It combines Scandiflex Pac with Schur Flexibles Denmark, Schur Flexibles Finland and Danapak Flexibles, a manufacturer and supplier of packaging solutions such as extrusion laminates for customers in Northern Europe.

The combined businesses cover a platform in the Nordics with a turnover of more than US$134.77 million (€120 million).

Founded in 1985, Scandiflex Pac designs and manufactures printed flexible packaging laminates for the food industry in Sweden and operates as a subsidiary of Sxpl Capital Partner Ab.

It offers printed and unprinted film-and paper laminates, and semi-and rigid films for application in red and white meat, fish and seafood, cheese, dry food and coffee, ready-made and frozen food, and non-food products.

The company’s sustainability initiatives will help Schur Flexibles minimize their environmental footprint as it operates at an efficiency rate of close to 100% and uses recycling systems that significantly reduce energy consumption.
