SeaQureFarming Group to acquire seafood related assets from Mowi

The newly established SeaQureFarming Group will take over non-integrated trout farms in Scotland from Mowi, aiming to develop a semi-closed containment system for fish farming.

SCOTLAND – Scotland-based SeaQureFarming Group Ltd., a company recently formed by Gael Force Group founder Stewart Graham, has completed the purchase of the remaining trout farming operations previously owned by Dawnfresh Farming.

These assets, which were not absorbed into Mowi’s salmon farming activities, were sold in early April, though the deal has only now been made public.

The sale includes several trout farming sites across Scotland, which will continue operating under their current production model.

All jobs attached to these sites are being retained under the new ownership, ensuring continuity for staff and operations alike.

SeaQureFarming Group, headquartered in Inverness, has been set up to roll out a new fish farming model based on the SeaQureFarm™ system, which uses semi-closed containment technology.

This technology, developed by Gael Force Group, is designed to manage waste output and reduce exposure to biological threats, while potentially converting fish farm waste into energy.

With this acquisition, SeaQureFarming gains the opportunity to apply and refine its SeaQureFarm™ concept in a live farming environment.

According to Graham, the former Dawnfresh Farming sites offer a practical platform for developing and testing this approach, which has already reached an advanced stage of planning.

He also confirmed that the acquired farms will serve both as production units and as a testbed for the company’s future sustainability model.

The deal marks a shift for these assets, which have been in limbo since Mowi acquired parts of Dawnfresh Farming but chose not to integrate all of them into its operations.

Mowi Scotland’s Chief Operating Officer Ben Hadfield, who has also served as a director for Dawnfresh Farming since early 2023, acknowledged the transaction as a significant change for the trout farming sector.

He noted that SeaQureFarming’s entry into the space opens the door for a different direction in farm operations, one focused on system innovation.

While the financial details of the sale were not disclosed, no major infrastructure changes have been announced at this stage.

SeaQureFarming has not ruled out further investments but is currently prioritizing the smooth transition of ownership and operational control.

As SeaQureFarming moves forward, the company plans to align the newly acquired farms with its SeaQureFarm™ development roadmap.
