Seeds Technologies strengthens its European presence with the launch of a Spanish branch, introducing innovative vegetable varieties to local farmers.
SPAIN – Seeds Technologies has strengthened its footprint in European horticulture with the launch of a new subsidiary in Spain, marking a key step in its international growth.
This expansion aims to boost agricultural production and foster stronger relationships with growers across the region.
Genetics plays a crucial role in modern horticulture, influencing crop quality, adaptability, and overall yield. Seed companies specializing in research and development help farmers improve their harvests, especially when supported by dedicated field teams.
Since its establishment in 2012 by Italian and Israeli partners, Seeds Technologies has been a key player in advancing vegetable varieties.
During a special presentation in Almería, key company representatives, including Shemer Marciano from Israel, CEO Biagio Taranto, variety breeder Emanuele Marino, and technical coordinator Stefano Recupero, introduced the expansion to Spanish growers and industry experts.
Strengthening industry collaboration
To mark the occasion, a delegation of Italian farmers, technicians, and cooperative representatives traveled to Almería for a business exchange organized by Seeds Technologies.
As part of the visit, the delegation met with CASI, a well-known Spanish cooperative, to explore ways to enhance agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
The official launch of Seeds Technologies España took place at Fraimher Agro in Poniente Almeriense, between El Ejido and Balanegra. The company’s first initiative in Spain is the introduction of California pepper varieties specifically developed for the region’s climate.
Alfredo Haro, the company’s manager in Almería, explained the extensive research and testing conducted over the past few years.
“[We] have been conducting a variety of studies in the greenhouses of several local farmers since 2022 in order to select the best-yielding varieties. We are grateful for the trust and cooperation of the growers who have supported us in this process,” said Haro.
Isabel and Francisco López González of Fraimher Agro, who hosted the event, emphasized the importance of the project. “We have been working on this project for years with greenhouse tests, and it is a source of pride to finally be able to share the results with the region,” they said.
Several local growers, including Juan, Virginia, and Sergio, confirmed the “high productivity and quality of the new pepper varieties.”
Meeting farmers’ needs
During the event, Stefano Recupero highlighted the company’s approach to working closely with farmers. “Our mission is to listen to growers to understand their needs and offer effective solutions. In Italy, we are known for our direct relationship with producers, and we want to bring the same approach to Spain,” he said.
Seeds Technologies also presented its catalogue of vegetable varieties, with a strong focus on California peppers in red, yellow, and orange.
“We have developed varieties that are resistant to powdery mildew and nematodes, with strong root systems and high-quality, compact fruit,” Recupero explained.
“Our goal is to offer products that can adapt to abiotic stress conditions and guarantee excellent fruit set, high productivity, and long post-harvest storage.”
Beyond peppers, Seeds Technologies is a major supplier of tomato varieties in Sicily, including Livanti, a high-yielding cherry tomato, and Gricale, a variety commonly grown across the country.
The company’s portfolio also includes cocktail and cluster tomatoes, eggplants, zucchinis, watermelons, melons (Galia and Cantalupo), rootstocks, and other pepper varieties such as Lamuyo.
