FRANCE – Sidel, leading global provider of PET solutions for liquid packaging has announced the acquisition of Cognac Moules Emballages Plastiques (COMEP), a French producer and designer of moulds for PET.

The deal expands the company’s molds and tooling offering for its customers in the PET bottling business.

Sidel and COMEP brings together capabilities in providing equipment and services solutions for packaging liquids such as water; carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks.

“We are confident that Sidel’s and COMEP’s complementary expertise will bring us more commercial opportunities while offering customers an optimal choice of partners, who are able to make their requirements a reality,” said Pavel Shevchuk, Executive Vice President Services, Sidel.

“The acquisition of COMEP is an exciting opportunity for Sidel to continue to grow along our journey and further improve our customer offering.”

Founded in 1998 and based in Salles-d’Angles, France, COMEP has more than 20 years of experience designing and manufacturing moulds for PET bottles.

With around 60 employees, it produces over 4,000 moulds per year and has ventured into low blowing pressure technologies.

While COMEP will represent a separate channel to market for moulds and tooling, the companies will leverage their respective capabilities, while offering a full set of packaging services to their customers.

“With this move, we are continuing on the journey we started back in October 2018,” said Pavel.

“Today, by acquiring COMEP, we enlarge our set of capabilities even further and extend our mould and tooling portfolio to offer complete packaging solutions to our clients.

“Packaging, indeed, is a key differentiator for our customers.

“COMEP is also perfectly complementing Sidel’s strong mould-manufacturing know-how.”

To expand its packaging portfolio, Sidel acquired Italian packaging company PET Engineering in October last year.

In addition to producing a wide range of packaging and equipment for clients in the food and beverage industry, PET Engineering provides brand strategy and design consultancy to its clients.
