EUROPE – Switzerland-based aseptic packaging solutions provider, SIG, has announced the commercial launch of combismile in Europe as the company’s latest expansion of its on-the-go packaging solution for the food and beverage industry.

According to the packaging company, the new solution is made using highly renewable and fully recyclable cartons which offer a welcome and viable alternative to plastic packaging.

With combismile, SIG says that the packaging solutions to meet every consumer demand: from being easy to handle, to having minimal environmental impact, all the way to their enticing design.

“As the world begins to slowly re-open, consumers will look for beverages they can incorporate into their lives without thinking twice about them,” said Karina Zawadzka, Marketing Account Manager Poland & Nordics at SIG.

“Beverages that can be easily transported and consumed, and which meet their health and wellness and sustainability needs – demands which have become more important than ever.

“With combismile, food and beverage brands and producers can meet these expectations while satisfying their own goals for expansion. Giving them the opportunity to increase their offerings and stay on top of a challenging market.”  

The packaging is available in a range of sizes from 180ml to 350ml servings. SIG notes that this gives brands and producers the opportunity to provide beverages for a wide range of consumers.

According to the company, the packaging can be used in functional and still drinks, juices and nectars, ready-to-drink teas and coffees, milk drinks and value-added dairy products, water drinks as well as plant-based drinks.

SIG is carrying out the commercial launch in Europe in partnership with its co-packer Juustoportti, the Finnish family-owned oat product and dairy producer.

This follows successful releases in other markets around the world: including the company’s partnerships China’s largest dairy companies, Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group and Inner Mongolia Mengniu Dairy Group.

The company has also made collaboration with South Africa’s Pioneer Foods, introducing combismile to the Middle East and Africa.

SIG’s further revealed that its on-the-go cartons have also made waves in the North American market through a collaboration with Steuben Foods, America’s leading aseptic food & beverage manufacturer.

According to the company, each combismile carton is made using 100% FSC-certified paperboard, and, if requested, polymers linked to responsibly sourced plant-based materials

In addition, the packaging supplier said that all cartons produced for the European market will come with ASI-certified aluminium. Supporting brands and manufacturers as they focus on sustainability, and helping consumers go green.

SIG noted that the packaging is currently available across Europe excluding France, Germany, Great Britain and Italy.
