SLMG Beverages expands Ayodhya bottling plant with US$40.9M investment to boost production

The expansion will double production capacity, create 900 new jobs, and support sustainable energy initiatives in Uttar Pradesh.

INDIA – SLMG Beverages, a subsidiary of Ladhani Group and India’s largest independent Coca-Cola bottler, has inaugurated the expansion of its manufacturing facility in Ayodhya under Amrit Bottlers Private Limited.

The project aims to enhance industrial development, create employment opportunities, and support sustainable beverage production in the region.

With an investment of Rs 350 crore (US$40.9M), SLMG Beverages is set to double the plant’s production capacity from 1,894 bottles per minute to 3,724 bottles per minute.

This expansion will help meet the increasing demand for Coca-Cola’s product range, including Coca-Cola, Thums Up, Limca, Fanta, Sprite, Kinley, Maaza, and Minute Maid.

The company plans to invest up to Rs 1,000 crore (US$116.8M) by 2030 to further strengthen operations across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The expansion is expected to generate 900 new jobs, increasing the total workforce at the facility to 2,500 employees. In addition to direct employment, thousands of indirect jobs will be created in logistics, retail, and related industries, significantly contributing to Uttar Pradesh’s economy.

SLMG Beverages continues to emphasize renewable energy usage. The Ayodhya facility currently operates with a 15 MW DC solar power plant and 9.6 MW of wind energy capacity, reducing its carbon footprint. Plans are in place to further increase solar energy capacity to support sustainable operations.

Rakesh Ladhani, Director of Amrit Bottlers and SLMG Beverages, said: “The expansion of our Ayodhya plant—now a hub for religious tourism—demonstrates our commitment to driving economic growth through innovative and sustainable beverage production.

“With increased capacity and employment opportunities, we are enhancing operational efficiency while creating jobs for the people of Uttar Pradesh. We sincerely appreciate the support of the Uttar Pradesh Government and Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in fostering industrial development.”

Amrit Bottlers Private Limited’s commitment to sustainability aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s goal of making Ayodhya a Solar City.

The company established a 15 MW solar power plant in 2020 and has installed a total of 75 MW of solar capacity across the state to reduce carbon emissions.

Looking forward, the group plans to set up two new factories in Gorakhpur and Bijnor within the next three years, investing Rs 2,000 crore and generating over 5,000 direct jobs. Plans are also underway to expand into fruit juice production to support further industrial growth in the region.
