SWITZERLAND – Italian manufacturer of small appliances, De’Longhi is poised to achieve full ownership of Swiss coffee machine manufacturer Eversys.
This is after the company signed a deal to acquire the remaining 60% stake in the company for approximately CHF 110 million (about US$118.4 million).
Eversys was founded in 2009 and manufactures a range of professional espresso coffee machines, with a focus on fully-automatic coffee machines.
The company inaugurated a new coffee machine production plant in Sierre, Switzerland in 2020.
De’Longhi first entered into a relationship with the company back in 2017 when it purchased a 40% minority stake.
When taking the initial purchase into consideration, FoodBev reports that, the total enterprise value of the complete acquisition is approximately CHF 150 million ($161.4 million).
The transaction is anticipated to be completed within the first half of 2021 subject to approval from Swiss anti-trust authorities.
Nestlé Professional rolls out anti-viral screen protection on coffee machines
Meanwhile, Nestlé Professional, has rolled out new anti-viral and anti-bacterial self-disinfecting screen protectors for its Nescafé and We Proudly Serve Starbucks® coffee machines.
According to a statement from the Swiss food giant, the launch was in an effort to provide solutions adapted to the current sanitary situation.
“We want to be able to support our customers in any possible way, to assist them to serve their consumers in a safe and reliable manner,” said Reinhold Jakobi, Head of Nestlé Professional’s Strategic Business Unit.
The state-of-the-art self-disinfecting NanoshieldTM film is composed of a PET foil with a special resin layer, containing an active copper component.
Nestlé says the films have undergone rigorous scientific testing to prove its anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties.
According to the company, the self-disinfecting properties of the NanoshieldTM film remain active under various practical use cases, such as high frequency touching and daily cleaning.
The customized NanoshieldTM films are designed to precisely fit the Nescafé touch screen and touch pad coffee machines, which are available around the world.
Nestlé says specific Nanoshields will also be available for We Proudly Serve Starbucks® coffee in selected markets.
