Soproda builds five new poultry buildings in France for organic egg farming

The company has constructed and equipped five modern poultry facilities to support organic layer and pullet rearing operations in the tropical region. The project includes three layer houses, one pullet-rearing unit, and a central egg packaging facility with a high-capacity conveyor system.

FRANCE – Soproda, an equipment and expertise supplier in the poultry industry, has completed the construction and installation of five advanced poultry buildings in Martinique, designed to support the island’s farmers with modern infrastructure suited to organic egg production.

The new facilities include three buildings, each capable of housing 3,000 organic laying hens, meeting a total capacity of 9,000 birds under the European regulation 1804/999.

These three structures are fitted with Natura Colony 2400 aviaries, a system that organizes space in a way that gives hens access to nests and feeders while supporting their natural behaviors during laying.

In addition to the layer units, a separate building has been built for pullet rearing, incorporating the Natura Primus aviary to manage density and prepare young birds for smooth transition into laying environments.

To streamline operations, the site also features a packaging center measuring 24 meters by 8 meters, connected to the hen houses through an automated conveyor system.

This system includes three 12-meter outfeed conveyors and one main conveyor measuring 65 meters, designed to move eggs directly from the buildings to the packaging area at a rate of 30,000 eggs per hour.

The setup is aimed at reducing manual handling, ensuring continuity in egg collection, and maintaining egg quality throughout the process.

Ventilation across the buildings has also been tailored to the tropical climate, with a combination of static and dynamic tunnel systems promoting even air flow.

This ventilation setup is intended to stabilize temperatures within the housing units and create conditions that reduce heat-related stress in poultry, which can otherwise impact egg production.

Soproda says the design of these buildings reflects the company’s technical experience in tropical poultry farming and its aim to meet the specific needs of agricultural operations in warmer climates.

The organization continues to develop infrastructure projects across the region, offering turnkey solutions to producers seeking efficiency and adherence to organic standards.
