SOUTH AFRICA – South African Breweries (SAB), a subsidiary of AB InBev, has expanded its portfolio with the launch of Corona Cero, a new alcohol-free beer enriched with Vitamin D.
This latest offering aims to cater to both existing beer enthusiasts and new consumers seeking non-alcoholic options.
“We are excited to introduce Corona Cero, growing our portfolio of global brands that resonate with South Africans and meet their changing consumption needs. This alcohol-free beer broadens the consumer choice and is a pronounced expression of our commitment to ensuring moderation,” said Zoleka Lisa, SAB’s Corporate Affairs Vice President.
She emphasized SAB’s dedication to promoting responsible drinking habits in South Africa. Corona Cero retains the essence of the Corona brand, which celebrates outdoor enjoyment and sunshine.
Vaughan Croeser, SAB’s Marketing Vice President, highlighted the brand’s innovative spirit: “At SAB, we put innovation first. The feeling of the sun is one of the things that people love most about the outdoors, and the Corona brand is always innovating to remind them of that feeling of getting outside.”
The introduction of Corona Cero is a response to significant shifts in beer consumption trends.
A report by GlobalData indicates that Generation Z, particularly in South Africa, is increasingly favoring non-alcoholic and low-alcohol beverages. SAB aims to meet these evolving consumer preferences with Corona Cero.
“With Corona Cero, we are confident in meeting these evolving consumer preferences and providing a product that resonates with the market,” SAB stated.
Corona Cero will be available in retail outlets and beverage establishments across South Africa starting in June.
