SOUTH AFRICA – Baking a cheesecake is a task that’s traditionally been intimidating for many, but Lancewood a South African celebrated dairy brand has made it so easy that everyone, including the kids, can whip up a delicious baked cheesecake with minimal effort required.

The dairy producer has launched the delectable new ‘Piece o’ Cake cheesecake mix “, an all-in-one product coming already mixed and prepared in a convenient tub.

According to the company, one only needs to simply follow the easy on-pack baking instructions and you’re good to go.

For those who wish to add a biscuit base to the cheesecake, this simple recipe can also be found on the pack.

With convenience and taste in mind this is a product targeting consumers looking for an effortless, yet equally mouth-watering alternative to baking a traditional cheesecake.

“Consumers continue to look for products that deliver on convenience without compromising on taste or quality, and this is one way in which we hope to meet that need.”

“Baking is a chance to share delicious treats with the family, and although we’d like to, many of us just don’t have the time or inclination to bake from scratch – especially something which may be seen by some as complicated as a baked cheesecake.

“However, with this new product, it literally is a Piece o’ Cake. We believe that cheesecake shouldn’t only be for special occasions, so we’ve made it super simple to wow your friends and family more often, to celebrate the every day,” said Lancewood Marketing Manager, Shereen Anderhold.

Lancewood owned by Libstar Holdings Limited, a JSE listed consumer goods company, uses pasteurised milk to produce an extensive range of products from gouda, cheddar and mozzarella, to cream cheese, cottage cheese, dips, spreads, sauces and yoghurt.

Considering its strong association with baking cheesecakes and being the No. 1 cream cheese brand in South Africa, it made complete sense that they make life just a little easier and sweeter, by bringing this innovative product to market.

“Consumers continue to look for products that deliver on convenience without compromising on taste or quality, and this is one way in which we hope to meet that need,” highlighted Anderhold.

Whilst there are fridge cheesecake ready mixes available, Lancewood Piece o’ Cake is the first of its kind in South Africa when it comes to whipping up a traditional baked cheesecake.

It’s unique in that it requires no additional ingredients unless of course, you prefer a biscuit crust and one needs no specialised baking skills or equipment.

Everything is pre-prepared and as the tagline says, you ‘Simply whip, bake and enjoy!’.

Landing in select retail stores in April 2021, the cheesecake mix is available in two delicious flavours – Plain (typical New York-style baked cheesecake) and Caramel, retailing at a recommended selling price of R99.99.

The launch of the product is timely as people’s interest in home consumption has risen in recent times with the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
