US – Breakfast drink maker Sunny Delight Beverages has agreed to invest US$30 million in the expansion of its Sherman plant in exchange for a property tax abatement.

Sunny Delight which makes SunnyD brand beverages said the expansion plan that includes the installation of two new packing lines will add more than 70 new jobs to the city’s economy at the facility on FM 1417.

Grayson County Commissioners gave the green light to the abatement plan on Tuesday morning. It will cut more than 50 percent of the company’s property taxes over the next eight years.

Grayson County Judge Bill Magers said: “Everyone always wants US$30 billion-dollar TI. For every $30 billion TI, there are 100 smaller deals. This deal is significant; it’s $30 million. What it really does, is it makes sure that good-paying jobs that have been here long-term stay in Grayson County, stay in Sherman, and continue to move our economy forward.”
