GERMANY – Symrise is actively implementing innovative regenerative agriculture initiatives to address the challenges posed by climate change, which is increasingly threatening agricultural stability.
The company’s commitment to enhancing a resilient food system involves promoting sustainable farming practices that restore ecosystems, enhance soil quality, and decrease the carbon emissions associated with agricultural production.
As climate change continues to disrupt food production and global supply chains, regenerative agriculture emerges as an effective strategy for risk mitigation.
Symrise advocates for the adoption of regenerative farming methods, concentrating on improving soil health, minimizing greenhouse gas emissions, and fostering biodiversity.
Symrise’s global agronomy team collaborates closely with farmers around the world to implement various regenerative practices, including extended crop rotations, cover cropping, and techniques for soil carbon sequestration.
In Ecuador, for instance, the company partners with banana producers to improve soil fertility while also reducing carbon outputs.
In Madagascar, Symrise’s vanilla initiative employs shadow management strategies to safeguard crops and promotes a comprehensive approach to sustainability, encouraging farmers to embrace more environmentally friendly methods.
The company has continued its growth this year.
For the first nine months of the year, Symrise reported a significant organic sales growth of 11.1%.
After factoring in portfolio adjustments and currency variations, the company’s total revenue amounted to approximately US$4.06 billion, compared to US$3.92 billion during the same period last year, reflecting a growth rate of 5.9%.
Both segments of the business contributed to this growth, even amid a challenging global economic environment.
In the third quarter, the company observed an organic sales increase of 10.2%, with overall sales rising by 5.2% in reporting currency, despite experiencing a 4.0% negative impact from currency exchange rates.
