CHINA – Symrise has officially opened a new office and laboratory facility dedicated to Food & Beverage (F&B) in Beijing, China, marking a significant step in its expansion within the country.
The new facility, established with an investment of €1.5 million (US$1.67M), aims to enhance Symrise’s research and development capabilities, strengthen customer proximity, and increase its market presence in Northern China.
China’s growing middle class and rapid urbanization have fueled a surge in demand for beverages, dairy products, culinary items, and snacks.
Symrise has strategically positioned its new 800-square-meter facility to cater to local consumer preferences and respond swiftly to evolving market trends.
The Beijing facility is equipped with specialized zones dedicated to the creation and application of beverages, dairy products, savory items, snacks, and seasonings.
Each zone features dedicated workstations and evaluation rooms, enabling Symrise to tailor its product offerings to the specific needs of the Chinese market.
Walter Ribeiro, Global President of Food and Beverage at Symrise, stated: “China represents a crucial market for Symrise due to its dynamic and rapidly growing consumer base in food and beverage applications.
As a logical consequence, we have expanded our Beijing site to significantly enhance our R&D capabilities. With a focus on customer proximity and technical excellence, this facility will serve as a vital hub for innovation and customer collaboration.”
The new Beijing office and lab also bolster Symrise’s primary laboratory in Shanghai, ensuring continuous support and optimized resources.
The facility is designed with modern amenities, balancing flexibility, efficiency, and local cultural elements, providing an enhanced working environment for the Symrise team.
Robert Marti, VP North Asia, Food and Beverage at Symrise, emphasized: “This strategic positioning enhances our ability to innovate and introduce new products tailored to Chinese consumers. It also strengthens our engagements with local food and beverage producers.
As we continue to develop and optimize our offerings, both our customers and consumers will benefit from a broader range of high-quality products, leading to increased satisfaction and loyalty in this key region.”
F&B powder blending expansion
In addition to the Beijing expansion, Symrise recently completed an F&B powder blending expansion in Jinqiao, Shanghai.
This upgrade is set to strengthen the company’s production capabilities and operational efficiency in the Chinese market.
The newly installed blender in the seasoning plant enhances existing manufacturing capabilities, streamlining production capacity for local market needs, and improving efficiency while optimizing manufacturing costs.
Kapil Sethia, President of Food and Beverage, APAC at Symrise, concluded: “The successful completion of this project underscores our commitment to safety and efficiency, ensuring that we continue to deliver high-quality F&B products while adhering to the highest standards of operation.”
