DSM, Evonik announce joint venture for omega-3s production

NETHERLANDS – Leading Dutch and German ingredients solutions companies DSM and Evonik have established a new company to manufacture omega-3 solutions for the animal feed industry. Dubbed Veramaris V.O.F., the new company will manufacture eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) omega-3 fatty acids from natural marine algae for animal nutrition. USGC signs MOU to set up feed manufacturing centre in Tunisia

USA – The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) towards the establishment of the Tunisian Centre for Feed Manufacturing and the expansion of export opportunities to help local feed producers improve the quality of their products. Animal feeds makers sidestep quality checks over high fees

KENYA – Small-scale manufacturers of livestock feeds are side-stepping quality checks due to high service costs leading to low milk output. Research by the Kenya Markets Trust shows that a Sh4,000 fee charged by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs) for every test conducted is prohibitive for small scale makers of animal feeds. “Factors that constrain access to and use of feed analyses services include costs, unreliability of results and inadequate engagement with stakeholders,” the organisation said in a report.
