ZIMBABWE – Zimbabwe is set to receive the first batch of agriculture equipment from Belarus, procured under an inter-governmental agreement worth US$58m, aimed at revolutionising Zimbabwe’s agriculture industry. The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in South Africa said in a statement that the first batch of modern farm machinery has been shipped to Harare, including 20 grain harvesters for grain and maize, 100 tractors, and 52 seed drills, with the second batch expected by December. EUROPE – Sodrugestvo Group, an international agro-industrial conglomerate incorporated in Luxembourg, has secured a USS$130 million financing arrangement to facilitate expansion its agro-processing activities in Europe. Sodrugestvo Group plans to use the US$130m from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to boost cross-border cooperation and benefit local farmers, sourcing, transportation, processing and distribution of animal feed products. Zimbabwe signs US$100m agriculture mechanisation deal to boost sector

ZIMBABWE – The government of Zimbabwe has entered into an agriculture mechanisation deal with Belarus and John Deere, manufacturer of agriculture equipment, valued at US$100 million. Under the agreement, the two will supply agriculture mechanisation equipment aimed at closing the mechanisation gap that is estimated at 543 000 agricultural implements aimed at improving productivity, reports The Herald.
