NETHERLANDS – Royal DSM, a nutrition and health solutions firm and French agro-industrial company Avril Group have formed a joint venture, Oletein, to produce canola (rapeseed) proteins for the global food market. Merit Functional Foods to invest in new plant-based protein production facility

CANADA – Merit Functional Foods, a Canadian producer of plant-based protein is investing in a new pea and canola protein production facility in Manitoba, Canada, to meet the growing demand of plant-based protein. The company is constructing a 94,000-square foot state-of-the-art plant which is expected to be fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2020. Australia releases its oilseeds and products annual report

AUSTRALIA – Australia produces over 5 million metric tonnes (MMT) of oilseed crops each year, with canola and cotton seed accounting over 90% of total production. According to a USDA report, there are forecasts of 2018/19 canola production to expand to 4 MMT, up 8% from the previous year because of improved climatic conditions.
