GERMANY – German expert in natural dietary fibers Taiyo has partnered with Asiros, the Danish fruit powders specialist to develop a new high-fiber fruit powder range targeted at producers of health and wellness products.

The products will be marketed under BerryShield Premium Conventional and BerryShield Organic brands and will be mainly aimed at companies in the nutraceuticals sector and the food & beverage industry in the EMEA region.

Taiyo says the soon-to-be-launched health and wellness products can be enjoyed pure or processed in high-quality applications.

The production of BerryShield Premium Conventional and BerryShield Organic is timely as food and beverage formulations that offer health benefits are among the current megatrends, according to Mintel’s Global Food and Drink Trend Reports 2021.

The report however notes that consumers have expectations on these products requiring them to contain top-quality, natural ingredients – such as dietary fibers – and have proven efficacy.

Taiyo’s new range is up to the task as it is based on its 100 percent natural, ISO-certified dietary fiber Sunfiber® derived from partially hydrolyzed guar gum (PHGG) and is completely water-soluble, and non-viscous.

Asiros Nordic A/S is a certified producer (FSSC22000, organic, kosher) of organic and also conventional products from natural raw fruits and plant-based ingredients, creating a guarantee of naturalness for customers.

Furthermore, to guarantee consistently high quality, Taiyo says the harvest to be used in the new products comes exclusively from Danish and European contract farming.

“Taiyo and Asiros are pursuing similar goals by bringing products to market that are technologically convincing, and can offer added health value,” said Dr. Stefan Siebrecht, Managing Director of Taiyo GmbH.

The first high-in-fiber BerryShield Premium Conventional and BerryShield Organic products, which will be launched on the market this summer, come from the lesser-known berry varieties Tartcherry, Elderberry, and Lingonberry.

Earlier in May, Taiyo U.S. announced that its ingredients Sunfiber, Suntheanine, Matcha, and Teavigo have received Informed Ingredient certification from LGC (Lexington, KY).

The Informed Ingredient certification is the first step in LGC’s Informed-Choice certification, which in addition to evaluating raw materials and manufacturing processes, also involved monthly retail monitoring and testing.

The voluntary program assures brand manufacturers that the ingredients have been routinely tested for a range of prohibited substances, and therefore safe for use by athletes.

According to Taiyo, the move helps its customers comply with Amazon’s dietary supplement safety documentation.
