Tanmiah Food Company acquires US$38.1M poultry facility in Saudi Arabia

SAUDI ARABIA – Tanmiah Food Company is set to acquire a poultry processing plant in Saudi Arabia for US$38.1 million.

Its subsidiary, Agricultural Development Company (ADC), signed an agreement with Dajin Poultry Company on December 1 to purchase the facility, which is expected to begin operations under Tanmiah’s management in 2025.

In a statement to the Saudi stock exchange, Tanmiah said the acquisition aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which emphasizes food security and self-sufficiency.

The facility is expected to increase production efficiency and meet growing consumer demand.

The company confirmed that the purchase will be financed through existing bank credit.

Tanmiah specializes in raising antibiotic-free, hormone-free, corn-fed chickens in a cageless environment.

Its products, marketed under the Tanmiah brand, are distributed across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Saudi Arabia.

The company’s offerings include fresh, frozen, and ready-to-cook marinated chicken products, catering to both retail and foodservice markets.

Among its key clients is the Popeyes fast-food chain.

Retail partners for ADC include supermarket chains such as Noori, Nesto, Al Raya, Sarawat, and LuLu.

In 2022, US-based Tyson Foods acquired stakes in two of Tanmiah’s subsidiaries, purchasing a 15% share in ADC and 60% of Supreme Foods Processing Company.

Supreme Foods manufactures fresh beef and chicken as well as processed meat products, which are sold within the GCC, Lebanon, and Jordan.

Tanmiah has also partnered with Ukraine’s MHP group in a joint venture to develop a farming project in Saudi Arabia.

The initiative includes a hatchery and a feed mill to enhance local poultry production.

Earlier this year, Tanmiah announced that one of its poultry facilities achieved the AA+ rating under the BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety, making it the first fresh chicken producer in Saudi Arabia to attain this rating in an unannounced audit.

The certification, managed by the London-based BRCGS organization, evaluates food safety and quality compliance among global suppliers.
