TANZANIA – Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL), a subsidiary of global brewer AB InBev, has announced a strategic partnership with Stanbic Bank Tanzania to support local entrepreneurs with financial aid, mentorship, and training.
This initiative, part of TBL’s Growing Retailers Innovatively Together (GRIT) and RISE programs, aims to equip Tanzanian retailers and small business owners with the necessary resources to thrive and drive sustainable growth in the local economy.
The partnership’s focus on fostering growth among small businesses will benefit over 25,000 Tanzanian entrepreneurs by 2025, with particular attention given to women-led businesses.
TBL aims to build long-term, resilient businesses and help empower local entrepreneurs to achieve financial independence and business sustainability.
“We’re creating opportunities, building stronger communities, and ensuring a brighter future for our retailers. We grow when our customers grow,” said TBL Managing Director Michelle Kilpin.
This initiative complements TBL’s ongoing efforts to drive positive social and economic impacts in Tanzania.
Earlier in the year, TBL joined forces with the CRDB Bank Foundation, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the Barley Farming Pre-financing Seed Capital Scheme.
This scheme was designed to support smallholder farmers in Tanzania, providing them with essential skills, financial resources, and valuable connections to optimize productivity.
Additionally, TBL recently collaborated with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to introduce a solar-powered water system in Tanzania, aimed at tackling water scarcity and promoting environmental sustainability.
The system supplies clean water for local communities and livestock, enhancing the lives of residents in areas facing water shortages.
In conjunction with this project, TBL and WWF launched a pilot restoration initiative under the Bankable Nature Solutions (BNbS) model.
This model seeks to promote sustainable water security and ecosystem preservation while ensuring that conservation efforts are financially sustainable and beneficial to the local economy.
In the 2023 fiscal year, TBL achieved a 12 percent increase in revenue and a 4 percent rise in operating profit, with substantial contributions from its beer and spirits segments.
The company continues to prioritize investments in sales and marketing across its portfolio to deliver sustained growth and long-term value creation in Tanzania’s growing beverage market.
