UK – Global ingredients provider Tate & Lyle PLC has promoted Nick Hampton to be its Chief Executive Officer of the company effective 1 April 2018.

Nick Hampton has served as Chief Financial Officer at the company since 2014.

He succeeds Javed Ahmed who is retiring from the company and its Board.

He has worked at PepsiCo in senior finance and operational roles, including being President West Europe and Senior Vice President Commercial Europe since 2013.

“I am delighted to announce Nick Hampton’s appointment as Chief Executive of Tate & Lyle.

Nick has been an outstanding Chief Financial Officer with a strong track record of driving performance, building teams and capabilities, and focusing on key customers and markets.

We are confident he has the experience, energy and vision to lead Tate & Lyle through the next phase of its development,” said Gerry Murphy, Chairman of Tate & Lyle.

Gerry also commended Javed Ahmed for his exceptional eight-year leadership of Tate & Lyle.

He noted that Javed Ahmed has caused significant strategic, operational and organisational transformation of the company from a largely commodity business into the high quality global food ingredients business.

His skill, energy and commitment contributed to the strong position Tate and Lyle stands in the global business.

Javed Ahmed was involved in significant reshaping of the business into a much stronger and higher quality business, says the company.

“I am delighted and honoured to be appointed Tate & Lyle’s next Chief Executive.  Tate & Lyle has a strong portfolio of ingredients, outstanding people, and deep technical expertise.

As global demand for healthier and tastier food continues to grow, this business has the opportunity to deliver meaningful benefits for our customers, employees, shareholders, and society at large, in the years ahead,” said Hampton.

Nick’s expertise in the industrial business combined with the company’s strong business portfolio may strengthen Tate and Lyle as a brand.
