UK – The British ingredients company, Tate & Lyle plans to introduce new no-calorie sweeteners extracted from stevia leaves, a portfolio developed in partnership with Sweet Green Fields.
The two variants, Optimizer Stevia 4.10 and Intense Stevia 2.0 will help producers deliver cost-efficient sugar and calorie reductions across their product ranges.
They will also be able to meet growing consumer demand for great tasting, plant-based products that support weight management.
Tate & Lyle said the taste of Optimizer Stevia 4.10 is designed to benchmark with RebA 99 – RebA 100, but at a more cost-effective price.
It appropriate for use across a wide range of product categories, from beverages and confectionery to sports nutrition powders, and even as a tabletop product.
Intense sweetener on the other hand is designed to provide elevated levels of sugar reduction with a lower cost in use than other premium stevia sweeteners and without compromising on taste.
It is suitable for sweet formulations requiring a high amount of sugar replacement, like in dairy products such as yogurts and ice cream, and beverages such as juice drinks and iced teas.
“Working with Sweet Green Fields, we have been able to combine our expertise and develop technologies to broaden our range of high quality plant-based sweeteners for use across a wide range of categories whilst remaining competitive on cost.
“Health and wellness remains a key trend and we know that consumers are looking for more sweetening solutions with natural origins that help them reduce calories and sugars, but they’re not willing to sacrifice great taste.
The sugar reduction market is developing extremely quickly and manufacturers need to be innovative in their approach to keep up with growing demand.
The Intense Stevia Optimizer Stevia will help us to maintain our position as a leader in the development of stevia-based sugar reduction solutions,” said Tommy Lykke Husum, Sweeteners Senior Product Manager at Tate & Lyle.
The new products join the company’s stevia-based profile including Intesse, Omega Stevia and Tasteva Stevia sweetener; Optimizer Stevia; Greenesse stevia; Sweetesse stevia, Altesse stevia and Puresse stevia.
Tate & Lyle partnered Sweet Green Fields, one of the largest global stevia ingredient companies to the demand for stevia in the market through innovations.
