VIETNAM – World’s leading food processing and packaging solutions provider, Tetra Pak has invested €120 million (US$135 million) in a new aseptic carton packaging material factory in Binh Duong, Vietnam.

The site which is Tetra Pak’s eighth factory in the Asia Pacific region will produce aseptic cartons for domestic and export markets in ASEAN region.

The factory has an expandable capacity of 20 billion packs per annum and currently produces the Tetra Brik Aseptic and Tetra Fino Aseptic packages.

It also has the possibility of producing more packaging formats in future.

The new facility features World Class Manufacturing standards, integrating the latest technologies & best-in-class production standards focusing on food safety, quality and sustainability.

“This greenfield investment is a strong testimony of our long-term commitment to Vietnam, contributing to the nation’s economic development, generating employment opportunities and boosting the local industry,” said Adolfo Orive, president and CEO of Tetra Pak.

“This factory is not just a monetary investment for us.

“It reflects our pledge to be closer to our customers, to serve them faster and better, with greater flexibility and efficiency, and shorter lead times.”

Leveraging on Tetra Pak’s global manufacturing experience, the Vietnam factory apply environmental standards in pursuit of the globally recognised LEED Version 4 Gold certification.

It also utilizes an energy monitoring system and water recycling facilities, setting standards for sustainable manufacturing through efficient energy and water use.

According to Tetra Pak, the liquid food market in Vietnam has been growing at a healthy 6% CAGR for the last 3 years and is projected to grow at a similar pace during the next 3 years, as compared to 4% growth per annum in the Asia Pacific region and 3% globally.

In addition to Vietnam, the facility will produce carton packaging for food and beverage customers in Australia and New Zealand.
