Thermo Fisher Scientific spearheads science advancement with expansion in Indonesia

INDONESIA – Thermo Fisher Scientific, renowned for its global leadership in serving science, is poised to make remarkable strides in Indonesia with the imminent opening of its first official office in Jakarta.

The inauguration of this new facility, scheduled for April, marks a pivotal moment in the company’s journey as it transitions from its current representative office to a larger, more robust workspace.

Sho-Wen Yeo, Vice President and General Manager of Southeast Asia & Taiwan for Thermo Fisher Scientific, emphasized the company’s steadfast commitment to advancing Indonesia’s burgeoning science and technology landscape.

“The company is committed to advancing Indonesia’s thriving science and technology landscape and support its progression in key areas such as healthcare, clean energy, biopharma and food safety,” he said.

Over the past year, Thermo Fisher has undertaken significant initiatives to strengthen its presence in Indonesia, including the establishment of a legal entity within the country. This move is designed to foster closer relationships with Indonesian stakeholders and enhance customer proximity.

The new office in Jakarta is poised to serve as a hub for nurturing local talent and fostering scientific advancements within the community.

Leading Thermo Fisher’s growth and operations in Indonesia will be Devi Darmadi, appointed as the country’s General Manager. Darmadi’s role will focus on spearheading strategic initiatives and evolving the company’s go-to-market strategies to expand its presence and impact in Indonesia.

Thermo Fisher has also forged a robust partnership with the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN) to bolster research infrastructure and capabilities within the country. Leveraging its expertise and extensive portfolio, Thermo Fisher has become a key partner in supporting BRIN’s mission to enhance competencies and capacities for Indonesian researchers.

In addition to its operational expansion, Thermo Fisher recently organized two scientific forums in Jakarta on February 24. These forums brought together industry experts and professionals to discuss innovations in healthcare and laboratory solutions.

Attendees had the opportunity to explore demonstrations of Thermo Fisher’s solutions and their potential impact on labs and healthcare services. The company showcased its comprehensive range of solutions spanning molecular diagnostics, oncology, clinical diagnosis, molecular spectroscopy, microbiology, toxicology, and sample storage.

Sho-Wen Yeo expressed optimism about Indonesia’s plans to transition to renewable energy, strengthen research infrastructure, and elevate healthcare and biotech ecosystems.

He reiterated Thermo Fisher’s commitment to cultivating meaningful partnerships and enabling customers to contribute to a healthier, cleaner, and safer world.
