SOUTH AFRICA – South Africa’s Three Ships Whisky is set to unveil its latest addition to the Master’s Collection; the 13-year-old Single Malt Cape Ruby Cask Finish, set to debut on World Whisky Day, May 18th, in an exclusive online sale.
Crafted by master distiller Andy Watts, this limited-edition release represents a milestone in South African whisky innovation. After maturing for eight years in American oak casks, this single malt whisky underwent an additional five years of refinement in Cape Ruby casks, resulting in a harmonious blend of flavors from just five carefully selected casks.
The 13-year-old Single Malt Cape Ruby Cask Finish boasts a captivating array of hues, ranging from red to gold to auburn, reminiscent of an autumn twilight over Table Bay. Its aromatic profile features a sweet, nutty nose intertwined with subtle notes of smoke, old leather, and tobacco.
On the palate, this whisky reveals layers of red berry flavors complemented by gentle smoke, characteristic of Three Ships Whisky’s renowned smoothness and elegance, influenced by the warm South African climate. Whether enjoyed neat or with a splash of water, each sip promises a journey of flavor discovery.
The 13-Year-Old Single Malt will retail at an RRP of R1199,99 (US$65.91) in South Africa.
Earlier this year, Three Ships Whisky claimed the title of the ‘World’s Best Blended Limited Release’ for its 12-Year-Old Double Wood expression.
Three Ships Whisky’s journey to global acclaim is not a new phenomenon. In 2012, its 5-Year-Old Premium Select was crowned ‘World’s Best Blended Whisky.’ This year, it returned as a finalist in the Blends category, alongside the 21-Year-Old Millennium expression.
