NIGERIA – The Board of UAC Foods Limited, a joint venture between UAC of Nigeria Plc and Tiger Brands has appointed Oladele Ajayi as new Managing Director, reported Beverage Industry news.

His appointment follows years of experience at Nigerian Breweries Plc where he joined in 1989 as an assistant brewer, served in various roles including in technical, marketing and sales, both in Nigeria and overseas then was appointed Sales Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc.

He was also appointed Managing Director of Heineken Hungary and later Managing Director, Central and East Africa sub-regions for Heineken International.

He also served in many non-executive roles such as Chairman of Sierra Leone Brewery Ltd, Chairman of Brasserries et Limonaderies du Rwanda, External Director of Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd and Director of Brasserrie de Bourbon, St Dennis, La Reunion.

This comes after UAC of Nigeria Plc appointed new heads for some of its subsidiaries.

The United Africa Company of Nigeria operations include manufacturing, services, logistics and warehousing, agricultural and real estate.

For the year ended December 2017, UAC reported 8% increase in revenue to 247.15 million from US$228.92mn in 2016.

Profit before tax was US$9mn as against US$23.19mn recorded in 2016.

Food and beverages segment operates under the UAC foods limited and manufactures packaged snacks, fruit juice, ice-cream, and bottled spring water.

Popular brand portfolios include leading brands such as Gala Sausage Roll, Mr. Biggs, Funtime Coconut Chips, Supreme Ice cream, Swan Natural Spring Water, Dulux, Grand Soya Oil, Grand Groundnut Oil, Vital Feeds, and Livestock Feeds.

In 2016, UAC Foods unveiled a new innovation in the sausage roll market, Gala mega sausage roll expanding its snacks portfolio.
